"Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, 2 for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. 3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, 4 who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. 5 For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, 6 who gave Himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time," (1 Tim 2:1-6)
Point to Ponder: If the church could unify in their prayers, across the streams in the body of Christ, bridging the generations (young and old), would it be possible to drastically reduce or eliminate crime in your city or county? Could we see righteousness returning to our streets in such a way where communities could feel the peace and presence of God?
Transformation Michigan is coming along side of Adopt-a-Cop as we are to pray for all of those who are in authority over us. We must take a stand for our law enforcement personnel. We can proclaim today that no lives will be taken because of crime in our state! Every police officer will be covered in prayer!
State troopers Larry Rothman and Ken Rochelle have a vision for all law enforcement individuals in our state. Please look at and study the links provided and connect your county with the prayer vision for those in law enforcement. Who will rise up and take the lead in the county you reside in?
NEWS RELEASE……………………………..!
Every Jackson Cop in Prayer Protection Program
JACKSON, MI – February 3, 2009 – It is official; someone or some group is now praying for every single law enforcement officer in JacksonCounty. Originally started in October of 2007, the Adopt-a-Cop Prayer Protection Program reached its goal on Sunday, February 1, 2009, only 16.5 months later, when the members of FirstChurch of the Nazarene eagerly adopted the last 65 of the 273 police officers working in JacksonCounty. “This is amazing to realize that every city, state, county and township police officer is now covered in prayer,” says State Trooper Larry Rothman, the officer that started the program. “And that means their spouses and families are covered also. This is serious. JacksonCounty is well on its way of being better protected and transformed.”
The Adopt-a-Cop program was launched at the first New Jackson county-wide praise and prayer event, held October 20, 2007, at The Assembly in downtown Jackson. Since then Trooper Larry has visited many organizations, families, and churches in JacksonCounty to present the need. “Residents from all over the county and from several area churches took it upon themselves to pray for the police officers in JacksonCounty. Because of their dedication to God, and the belief that prayer can make a difference, they have now adopted every law officer in our county.”
Trooper Rothman firmly believes that God has used the Adopt-a-Cop program not only to pray for the law enforcement officers but also to build a stronger relationship between the community and area churches. Approximately 60 JacksonCounty churches have joined forces with the Adopt-a-Cop ministry. Adopt-a-Cop has also joined forces with Together We Can Make a Difference, Transformation Michigan, and several area organizations to start the New Jackson movement where churches, businesses and other organizations come together in unity to help transform JacksonCounty into an even better place to live.
The Adopt-a-Cop program is now spreading throughout Michigan. Trooper Rothman has set up a helpful website linking all Michigan Adopt-a-Cop programs together. If a county does not have a similar program he is offering instructions, forms, flyers and personal guidance to anyone that wants to start an Adopt-a-Cop prayer protection program in their own county. “I was not the first one to start a program of this nature. There are a few of them scattered throughout the United States. God led me to do this in Jackson at this time. He has shown me the urgent need and also the results from doing it.” Trooper Rothman says he has evidence. “I have personally seen and witnessed many positive results of officers being blessed, protected and better united with their families. The amount of violence and negative junk they see every day in their jobs goes home with them. This program protects them on-the-job and at home, their safe haven.” If you are interested in finding out more about the Jackson Adopt-a-Cop program visit Trooper Rothman’s website at www.Adopt-a-Cop.org- For more information contact:

ADOPT - A - COP SUGGESTED PRAYER FOCUS!
"Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will bring judgment on themselves. For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to evil. Do you want to be unafraid of the authority? Do what is good, and you will have praise from the same. For he is God's minister to you for good. But if you do evil, be afraid; for he does not bear the sword in vain; for he is God's minister, an avenger to execute wrath on him who practices evil. Therefore you must be subject, not only because of wrath but also for conscience' sake." (Rom 13:1-5)
"Because the sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil." (Eccl 8:11)
THE BIG TEN PRAYER FOCUS:
*Pray for their physical safety: The dangers law enforcement individuals face are immense. It is a daily challenge in a society today that is filled with violence, greed and hate.
*Pray for their emotional well being: The mental, physical and emotional aspects are always on high alert. There is a combination of stress and anxiety always at work which can impact the mind in many ways.
*Pray for their families: The families of our law enforcement personnel are always affected due to the pressures they face on a daily basis. Divorce can be a result and forms of escapism which are counter productive to the mind, body, spirit and soul.
* Pray for wisdom: Our police must learn to make choices in spontaneous situations that continually arise that are filled with wisdom that will bring forth the greatest good. Wisdom is the right use and exercise of knowledge; quickness of intellect; readiness of apprehension; and a dexterity in execution.
*Pray for understanding: The situations faced are very complex when dealing with human nature. Understanding is an exact comprehension by the human mind regarding the state of things, situations, words that are spoken, that are before an individual.
*Pray they would have compassion for the people they serve: Compassion is painful sympathy; suffering with another; pity; and distress of the misfortunes of another. Our police are dealing with lives and souls that will face God some day. May they have a heart like Jesus Christ and feel what an individual may be going through at the time, and respond accordingly. May hearts never become hardened! It is very easy to become bitter and unforgiving when evil is encountered so often on a daily basis.
*Pray that law enforcement personnel would come to know Christ as Savior: This is the greatest need of all as salvation is the pathway to resolve all individual problems that may arise.
*Pray for their finances: We all face financial pressures. Our police personnel are no different so lift them up in this area of need for their families.
*Pray for their health: The job stress in law enforcement can bring on many physiological changes in the body which in turn can affect the physical health of the body.
*Pray they would exhibit integrity, honesty and dedication: A virtuous individual is to be highly regarded and respected. Temptations can present situations for any person to fail at some time. May they have spiritual fortitude and strength to be honest, dedicated and individuals of integrity.
"Have faith in God. For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, 'Be removed and be cast into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them. And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses. But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father in heaven forgive your trespasses." (Mark 11:22-26)
